One of the highest honors’ bestowed on an administrator is the Clubman of the year award and Ger Gavin was the proud recipient of the Tipperary and Munster “Clubman of the Year” in 1989. Undoubtly, a key decision in this award was the leadership and example set by Ger in the development of the club complex which came to fruition at that time. Indicative of the fantastic traits of Ger, in receiving the award, particular attention was given to Ger‘s courage and initiative to set about filling a vacuum and creating a permanent home for the Nenagh Eire Og club at that time. However, Ger is not just a builder of pavilions, he is also a wonderful club administrator which he has proven down the years. After initially being elected club chairman in , he realised the importance of immediately delegating various functions and set about taking the running of the club out of the hands of a small number of people. He set up a number of sub-committees who undertook responsibilities in various areas and was primarily responsible for getting a large number of people in the Nenagh community involved at various levels in running the numerous activities of the club.Ger Gavin has had a long active and fruitful association with the GAA in Nenagh and the club can feel rightly proud and what he has contributed over several decades.
