North Final - Minor Hurling - Nenagh Eire Og 2-14 v Kildangan 0-13 - Sept 13th Sept 2008
Nenagh and Kildangan are no strangers to each other at this grade having met down through the seasons and having some thrilling encounters, with Kiladangan coming out winners two years ago at u16, so Nenagh knew they had a battle on their hands in this game.
And so it proved to be the case a ding dong first half was the order of the day as both teams trading points in a tough close encounter Kevin Kennedy opened our account with a fine point , followed with points from David Cleary and two more from Tommy Heffernan , A captains part was played by Paddy Murphy with a point on 12 min and Kevin Kennedy struck the final point of an injury delayed half as the half was about to close Nenagh earned a penalty with six minutes of injury time played at the end of the first half , Shane Maher stepped up from his full back position to drill a shot to the back of the kiladangan net . Sending Nenagh in at half time 1-06 to 0-08 up by one.
The second half was all set for a thriller but with five minutes played the turning point in the game came with the sending off of kildanganĀ No.9 James Holland for a foul on Eoin Slattery, Eoin Slattery then went on to score a goal and a point in the next 5 min to put Nenagh on the way to a fine well earned Victory running out 2-14 to 0-13.
